Many of you remember that President Obama announced his “ConnectED” initiative back in June, 2013 where he stated that within 5 years, 99% of America’s students would be connected to high-speed, high-capacity wireless broadband Internet Access and our nation’s teachers will be highly trained in the use of technology as a tool for teaching…
Well, it’s been a year and we now have some details about the public and private sector partnership commitments that have been garnered in support of the program AND a website where you, the potential beneficiaries of the opportunities, can find out everything you want to know about how to apply for participation in the program from all of its sponsors. There are offers of free (or significantly reduced cost) classroom software, free wireless internet access, free professional development, free end-user devices (like tablets, etc.) and free assessment tools…to name a few.
The White House’s ConnectED website can be accessed here. Be sure to bookmark this page as I am hopeful it will become another tool in your “Technology Tool-Kit” and be another step in your journey to ubiquitous educational technology integration.
NOTE: Some of the programs have an initial application deadline of July 15, 2014 so if you get in the queue now, you may be near to the head of the line!
ANOTHER NOTE: We are NOT ConnectED “experts” however, we will do what we can to help you understand what you need to do to be a beneficiary of the program!
